New 21st-Century Headquarters
On air and online, KERA is a hub of trusted information, news and joy. Now, it’s time that KERA’s physical space be one, too.
Located on the bustling Katy Trail, KERA’s new campus will be a central destination for the staff, audiences, members, donors and volunteers that help make KERA’s essential services possible.
This new, community-centric building will allow KERA to:
✔ Host performances and events that bolster our arts community
✔ Convene people with differing views for civil conversations
✔ Empower our team and volunteers to do their best work
✔ Provide studios for residents to share their work with the world
FUTURE FUND
From fact-based local news to educational resources for kids and families, to enriching music and one-of-a-kind community events — KERA is an essential lifeline for millions of North Texans.
KERA’s Ground Breaking Capital Campaign will ensure these essential services are exceptional, relevant and extraordinary for decades to come. With your support, KERA can seize new opportunities and adapt to industry changes, in order to be there for audiences no matter what.
How?
By investing in the future of our content and services, specifically around the areas of:
Journalism
Local journalism is the key to thriving societies, democracies and economies — and yet local newsrooms are increasingly at risk. In 2023, in fact, the U.S. lost more than two local newspapers a week, which means over half of the counties in the nation have just one or no local news outlet.
Expanding KERA News’ fact-based news coverage and in-depth reporting will ensure North Texans always have access to the information that helps them make informed decisions about their lives. KERA’s Groundbreaking Capital Campaign will also support the launch of a daily, local news radio program that is hyper-focused on what’s happening in our region and why. The campaign will also support the growth of our journalism collaborations and partnerships, in order to expand North Texans’ access to local news.
Education
The educational opportunities in the first nine years of a child’s life can shape their entire future. And yet for many families, there are obstacles at every turn — from costs to language barriers and more.
But KERA can help.
With our partnerships, legacy of trust, and research-backed content — KERA is uniquely positioned to close opportunity gaps and improve educational outcomes for children ages 0-8.
Music Arts, & Culture
Art is an essential part of our North Texas community, economy and our identity. By investing in KERA’s arts ecosystem — Arts Access, KXT, WRR, video, TV, journalism and more — we will grow and sustain an irreplaceable platform for the artists and arts organizations of our region.
